Recital… Come and Gone.

For those of you th at didn’t know, after our move back from Seattle I came back to work at the studio (Bobbie’s School of Performing Arts). The year moved by quickly and before we knew it, recital was upon us. For parents and dancers, there is some prep time but its nothing compared to what the staff has to do. Tickets, photos, costumes, staging, tech prep… the list goes on. On Wednesday June 17th, the preparation moved over to the Thousand Oaks High School Performing Arts center and recital was underway.

For staff it meant several long days of rehearsals, prep time, and the chaos of being backstage during a show… Basically a day that starts at 9am and ends at 10pm. All went fairly well though. The first two nights found us starting nearly 20 minutes late for multiple reasons, one of which was Diane’s fall that left a very nasty bump and bruising on her head and eye. She is ok though and we are very lucky that the results of her fall were not worse then they were. Back stage is always chaotic but the shows ran smoothly. By night number three, we were able to start on time, to the shock of many! It was a little more chaotic backstage then usual but things still went well and now its all done!

Abby spent the morning of the second show with me and seemed to have a blast. She enjoyed watching some of the dancers practicing in the lobby. I have to say she is such a well behaved little girl, even with a bit of the sniffles! Abby made it through her first recital experience with flying colors. I hope there are many more years spent at the studio and that she has to chance to grow up around some very wonderful people. Now we move on to summer classes and prepare for a new season to begin. Here is to an even better 2009/2010 dance season! Woo Hoo!
