Precious Moments

I have to admit that before we had Abby, I didn’t always look at the “less eventful” moments as being some of the most precious moments. Of course, the day I met Shaun, the day I married him and the day Abby was born are forever precious to me. However, there are the smaller moments in life that are just as wonderful and just as precious. Like our trips to the park for example.

Abby and I love to go to the park when we can steal a moment. Its such a great way to get out, get some fresh air, spend some mommy/Abby time together and give Abby the chance to really stretch her legs. So yesterday we made sure to take the time and go. We hopped into the car and headed to Conejo Creek Park behind the Thousand Oaks Library, one of my favorites. We hit the swings first, which made Abby so happy. She loves the swings and I am sure the pictures I have prove that. We also tried out the baby slide for the first time and that was a hit. She loved it so much that when it was time to go, Abby had a bit of a meltdown. Oh well, after a snack and picking out a few books at the library… it was as though the meltdown never happened.

The thing I cherish most about our trips out to the park are Abby’s giggles and laughs when she is truly happy and having fun. That giggle and her smile melt my heart and make my day. These are moments I will cherish for eternity.

My First Piggy Tails

Abby can finally have her hair styled! We finally put some piggy tails in her hair and it looked adorable as you can see. They didn’t last long, I don’t think mommy put the rubber bands in tight enough. Well that and Abby pulled them out as well. They certainly look good on her, lets hope we can get them in and keep them in. Its nice to have Abby’s hair out of her face.

Abby looks as though she has been up to no good. One might think she roughed someone up but really this is just her mischievous look enhanced by yet another walking injury. This time it was toy stethoscope vs. Abby’s forehead.

Getting irritated with the piggy tales. Taken moments before she ripped them out.

A Moment at the Park

On our way home from work, Abby and I stopped at my favorite park to swing and play. Abby loves the swings. Luckily the light was just perfect and I was able to snap a few great pictures of Abby having fun on her swing. OH, and the mark on her forehead… one of her first major injuries from walking. Yes folks, walking can be dangerous especially when you are just learning.

Most of November… In a Quick Nutshell

November, just like most other months, flew by too fast. At the same time we had a lot of fun. We were busy as usual and excited for the yummy holiday season to begin (Turkey Day and then Christmas of course). Several of our weekends were spent out and about, finally able to enjoy some time together as a family.

The second weekend of November we were given the opportunity to go to the “Meet the Kings” party at Hollywood Park. This is generally a family event, so we were able to take Abby with us and enjoy the day. Shaun and I had the opportunity to meet some of our favorite Kings players and get their autographs as well as pictures with them. Some of the players you see us with in pictures are Dustin Brown, Sean O’Donnell, Michal Handzus, Jarett Stoll and Jack Johnson. Abby was certainly a hit with most of the players… What a Flirt!! She was even the one who put that huge smile on Michal Handzus’ face, and let me tell you he doesn’t smile often. We had a wonderful time and hope to participate again soon.

The following weekend we decided to take Abby to Disneyland. All of the lovely holiday decorations were close to being completed and the castle looked absolutely beautiful. I have to say that the holidays at Disneyland is probably my most favorite time of year. The night was fun and Abby seemed to be very entertained by all of the lights and decorations. Abby and I took our picture with Santa, whom Abby seemed a tad wary of but also interested in. We even had the chance to see the park bench that Walt Disney would sit on every Sunday when he took his daughters to the carousel and playgraound. As he sat on this bench he would think and dream up ideas of what is now Disneyland. Pretty cool if you ask me!

Tricks, Treats and Friends on Halloween

Our Halloween was a pretty relaxed and comfortable day. The morning and afternoon was spent running some important errands and for Abby, the afternoon was spent napping before fun time.

Once she was up from her nap, Abby was ready to get dressed for Halloween. It was the first time we have dressed her in a costume and thought it would be fitting to have her dress as a pumpkin. She looked adorable!

We knew Abby was still too young for Trick Or Treating, but luckily her friend Harrison and our friends Byron and Erika were having a Halloween Party and we were invited! We had a wonderful time and Abby seemed to be having a fun time hanging out with Harrison and well, the balloons. Erika did an amazing job! She made the cake herself and the treats and food were amazing… all Halloween themed. Ghost Toast, Graveyard 6 layer dip, and much much more.

After the party we stopped by Grandma Zoe’s house and enjoyed some chili and the rest of the Halloween evening. It was a wonderful night and Abby had a blast. I know we cant wait until next year when Abby is a little bit older and might understand it a bit more!

Staying Warm

Tonight was one of the first cool nights we have had… Cool enough to make the house pretty chilly inside. Abby was having a hard time eating dinner and staying warm, so I found an easy solution. Nothing too incredible, but I thought she looked pretty darn cute! That and she actually made an honest attempt at using a spoon!

The Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday we took Abby for her very first trip to the Pumpkin Patch. Abby loved it! She played in a huge pile of little pumpkins that were surrounded by enormous, almost steroidal pumpkins and was completely fascinated by the straw and wood chips on the ground. Abby also enjoyed watching all of the kids bouncing around on the huge trampoline ride close to us as well as the big slide. She took it all in and even got angry when it was time to go! She picked out her very own pumpkin too! A cute pumpkin for our beautiful little ‘punkin. Love you Abby!

Boo At The Zoo

Our afternoon and evening on Saturday was spent up in Santa Barbara. It was a gorgeous day, perfect for a drive and some time at the Santa Barbara Zoo for a special event. Boo at the Zoo started at 5:30 so we left the house around 2:00, which gave us the chance to drive around and stop for ice cream before heading to the zoo.

The Boo at the Zoo event was fun and Abby seemed to have a great time. We didnt get to see the animals as I had hoped but it was nice to walk around. I think that Abby will enjoy it a bit more next year when she understands things better. They had a haunted house set up but unfortunately it was for children 10 and older. They also had tons of booths set up for the kids to trick or treat at. We stopped at a few, but didn’t do too much as we didn’t want to look like the parents that pretend to trick or treat for their kids to get candy for themselves. Although I did enjoy a piece or two. At the top of the hill at the zoo they had carnival games, food and a dj. We enjoyed for a while, watched Abby wiggle her little tooshie to Ghostbusters and then headed back to the car to go home. We had a great time and I cant wait to go again next year when Abby is older! Happy Halloween!

Its a Jolly Holiday with Mary… and Abby!

Today was a fun day for Abby. I put her new baby stroller together, which was a gift for her birthday. She absolutely loves playing with it. Not only does she put her doggy and baby dolls into it, she puts any and every toy possible into it. I think she played with her stroller for a good solid hour before nap time.

After Abby woke up from her nap, she seemed groggy and a little under the weather. So instead of playing, Abby cuddled up into her Care Bear sleeping bag and watched Mary Poppins for the very first time. She sat there for most of the movie completely engrossed in everything that was going on. She clapped and danced during the songs, laughed occasionally at funny parts, and pointed a lot of the animated animals and people out to me.

She loved it and looked so cute watching! When the movie ended she got up, and started back to playing again. Oh how I love this little girl.

Fun Filled But Relaxing Weekend….

This past weekend was fun and packed with plenty to do, but relaxing all at the same time. Is that actually possible? Or is it just that it wasn’t quite as busy as the last few months so it seemed relaxing? Who knows, but it was fun and certainly enjoyable. I know that despite still having a bit of a cold, Abby had fun as well!

On Saturday the three of us headed to Chase’s First Birthday Party. I cant believe he is one! The party was a fun Pirates theme and the weather that day certainly gave us the feeling of a tropical island. Unfortunately it was about 89 degrees in Camarillo and just as humid! Because Abby was still recovering from the sniffles we couldn’t stay long as the heat was bothering her too much. We did have the chance however, to watch Chase enjoy his birthday cake and watch a very cute slide show that Stephanie, Chase’s Aunt and my friend, had made. Boy oh boy do they grow fast. I think the one thing that Abby enjoyed most about the party was the watermelon… Yummy! Its no surprise considering that the one thing I craved the most when I was pregnant with her.

When we left the party, Shaun and I decided to head out to Ventura where it was definitely cooler and enjoy some time at the Harvest Festival. Abby had the chance to nap a bit, Shaun and I had the chance to eat and we certainly found some great things to take home with us. I have to say most of it was food related! Dips, Jerky, Tea and Cocoa mix. And its all very yummy too! We had a great time, cooled off and enjoyed the nice ocean breeze. It was also nice to enjoy something that I used to do every year with my parents and sister when I was younger.

After leaving the Harvest Festival, Shaun decided it would be nice to take a drive along the coast up to Santa Barbara and then head home. Abby passed out the minute we started driving and the sun was close to setting. What a beautiful drive! Its the scenes like that one below that remind me why we moved back to California. It was a perfect sunset and a wonderful drive. It didnt hurt to stop at Fosters Freeze for some ice cream and then Ottavio’s in Camarillo for dinner. A perfect end to a lovely day!

Sunday was relaxed and time was spent visiting. Grandma Pat had been in town since Abby’s party and we wanted to see her before she had to head back to Pocatello, Idaho. After shopping for Abby’s Halloween Costume (thats a secret until Halloween) we went to Mary and Tom’s to visit with Great-Grandma Pat, Mary, Tom, Grandpa, Nana, Uncle James and his girlfriend Samantha. Time was spent chatting away and just enjoying each others company. Abby tried her hand at walking… but it didnt quite happen. She was however, fascinated by Grandpa and his ability to blow bubbles with his gum.

Another great weekend! Busy but enjoyable… I am sure I look forward to the week ahead!
