Happy Easter!

Happy Easter Everyone!
The Easter Bunny made it to our house and the girls were thrilled. This year, the big bunny made the girls do a bit of work for their baskets. When they woke up, the girls found a note from the Easter Bunny saying that their baskets were hidden around the house and they had to find them! Once they did, Abby and Ellie were in heaven. They loved their baskets!

SOOOOO EXCITED TO HUNT FOR OUR BASKETS!

Cheese and Happy Easter!

The note from the Easter Bunny

Someone found her bucket and looks pretty excited about it.

Abby loves her basket too. She had to look a little harder for hers but she found it pretty fast!

The Easter Bunny loot!

Enjoying every little bit of her basket.

So thrilled with everything!

After baskets and some breakfast, we took a drive and ended up in Edmonds at the beach. The girls cant get enough of the beach. (I think its the fact that they are California Girls). We had a great time even though it was a little bit cold and Abby and Ellie certainly stayed busy. Pictures at the beach are always the best too!

Our day was quiet and uneventful but I could not have asked for a better day. Happy Easter everyone! Hope you have a lovely day!

Easter Sunday

The Easter Bunny came! After a good night of sleep the girls awoke to Easter baskets filled with goodies from the Easter Bunny. Such excitement!
I will pause for a moment and explain their sleep wear. Yes, I realize they are wearing Santa PJ’s and its almost April but my kids are pretty smart. When we talked the night before about the Easter Bunny they took notice that he came while they were sleeping and left his presents. Just like Santa. So when it was time to get dressed for bed, they wanted to wear their Santa pj’s just like at Christmas time. Pretty impressive dot connecting if you ask me.
Anyway, the girls discovered their baskets and immediately ripped into them. Abby received Wreck it Ralph and Ellie, HOP. Of course there was candy too! You cant have Easter without a few Peeps and mini Cadbury Eggs! The Easter Bunny did well again this year!

The rest of our Easter Sunday ended up being a bit of a bummer. While the girls played outside with Shaun, I napped. I had been feeling sick for a few days and thought I might have a sinus infection. When I woke up from my nap my eyes were clouded and my sinuses in horrible shape. I had a feeling my sinus infection was bad and had now caused some conjunctivitis  So, we decided I couldn’t wait until Monday and headed to the ER, while the girls stayed with Grandpa and Nana.
The ER trip was quick, thankfully and sure enough I was right! Acute sinusitis and conjunctivitis! So with a prescription for antibiotics, steroids and eye drops we headed home to rest. Not the day that I had hoped for, but I know that there are a lot of people out there with bigger problems then that. I am just blessed to have the family that I do and I have that time with them that I do. Very blessed, sinus infection and all.
Happy Easter everyone!

Easter Egg Decorating Time!

Its the night before Easter and its time to dye some eggs! Just like many other families this was a tradition in our house when I was a little girl and its something I know I want my girls to enjoy as well. So tonight I pulled out the egg dying kit, hard boiled some eggs and let the girls have some fun. And they did!

Ellie seemed to enjoy using blue and green on most of her eggs, while Abby stuck with purple, orange and yellow and pink. At least they covered all of the colors so that none of them felt left out! Abby was very much intrigued by the wax crayon as well. To her it was amazing that she could draw all over the egg and not see a thing but when she placed it into the dye she could see all of her art.

After eggs were done Daddy, despite not feeling up to his, decided to make something that he remembers enjoying as a kid. Matzo Brei! Shaun did a great job with it and while Abby turned her nose up Ellie jumped right in. Go figure! Who would have thought my picky little eater would love it so much.

After dying some eggs and enjoying some food in honor of Passover for our Jewish friends, we all headed to bed to wait for the Easter Bunny to come.  Ellie gets excited at the mention of the Easter Bunny just like Abby, but I cant honestly say she understands it all yet.  I guess we will see in the morning!

Easter at Underwood Family Farms

Today the girls and I spent the day with Erika and Harrison. Abby was so excited to see him and I think its because she calls him her boyfriend. Yup, you read that correctly… her BOYFRIEND.  Its a good thing we love Harrison lots and think he is quite the catch for Abby, otherwise Shaun might have his work cut out for him. Listen to me… you would think they were 25! Nope, just two.
When we first arrived, it seemed like it would be crowded but we lucked out. It was the perfect day. The kiddos climbed haystacks, explored through the wheat field labyrinth, went on an Easter Egg hunt, said hello to the Easter Bunny, ate some lunch, picked strawberries, visited the horses, went down the tractor slide and played on the big train. What a busy day.  Abby talked very seriously with the Easter Bunny too; telling him about the Strawberry Shortcake DVD that she really wanted. Ellie loved riding in the wagon and even got Abby and Harrison to pull her along. She really enjoyed trying to keep up with the bigger kids and was so proud of herself when she picked her first strawberry on her own.

The kids ran themselves out over a course of about 4 hours. I am amazed they stayed awake long enough to drive to the bank! But eventually everyone gave in and passed out on the way home. The day was wonderful. The one and only downside to it? The sunburns. We discovered the hard way that our sun block was well past its expiration date. Luckily the girls just had red noses but mommy didn’t fair quite as well. You live and you learn. At least I know what I will be buying tomorrow!

Easter Weekend

Easter weekend was a quick one, but nice none the less. After a very lazy Saturday morning full of cartoons in bed and a late breakfast, Shaun, Abby and myself headed out to run some errands and then spend the evening with Nana, Grandpa, Uncle James, and Aunt Brittany.

When we got to their house, Abby had a special something waiting for her from the Easter Bunny (he came early to the Wharton house). Abby got a Little People horse and carriage with blocks to build a castle! She liked it a lot.

Abby generally loves to spend time with her Uncle James, but she does require a little time to warm up to him. However, on Saturday night she took forever to finally let him pick her up without starting cry. Not sure what it was, but he is the only person she has done this to. Luckily though, she did and they had a wonderful end of an evening with one another as Mommy, Daddy and Grandpa and Nana watched the Kings played the Ducks. They shared some pizza too and Abby was very dainty about keeping herself clean!

The following morning Abby woke up very excited. Not sure why as she is still just a little to young to understand the Easter Bunny, but when we walked into the room she was jumping up and down in the crib just like a bunny!

When Abby came out into the hallway, she found an Easter basket waiting for her. The minute she saw it and all of the goodies inside, she said “WOW”! It was too cute. She loved everything in her basket, but she really took to her Easter Egg Magna-Doodle. As you can see. 🙂 Abby also had a taste of her very first Peep, and boy did she enjoy that. All she kept saying was “Mmmmmm” and I think she got a few “Yummy’s” in there. Mommy and Daddy did only give her one and that was really all she needed. Lets just say that even when she crashed her nap that day wasn’t great. Oh well, it was a special treat and its not something we do often, if at all.

In the afternoon, we all headed over to Grandma Zoe’s house. On our way there, while sitting at the light on Corbin at Devonshire, things began to shake. Shaun and I turned to look at each and then at Abby as we thought one of us was moving the car. It wasn’t and as it turned out it was an earthquake. It was one of those rolling and long lasting earthquakes, which I would prefer over the violent shaking that occurred during the Northridge quake. I have never been sitting in the car during an earthquake, so that was definitely an interesting experience. Later on we found out the earthquake was a magnitude 7.2 out of Baja, California.

When we arrived at Grandma Zoe’s house, Abby was able to tell right away that the Easter Bunny had also visited her house and there were several very cool baskets waiting for her. One of the baskets contained a red Mickey Mouse outdoor chair and a Mickey Mouse lawnmower bubble machine. The other basket contained a plastic gardening set, several books and a CD of childrens songs. Abby loved the chair, and because our yard isnt summer ready yet we have kept it inside and she loves to play on it and sit in it while watching TV.

After opening her baskets, we all went outside to play with the bubble machine. It took a little while to get things working but once we did, Abby had a blast. A family in the neighborhood walked by and their little boy seemed very intruigued by it. Abby, on the other hand, became distracted by their Beagle. For Abby, an animal especially a dog, out does a toy on any day. Abby and grandma also stayed outside for a bit and played with the sidewalk chalk, drawing flowers and enjoying the last bit of the day before it got too cold outside. Unfortunatly I only have the one picture as my camera battery died way too soon. My camera somehow was switched on when I packed it into our bag and the battery hadn’t had the time to charge completely. The pictures I tried to take with my phone didn’t look good at all. Bummer.

Pretty soon the evening came to a close and we headed home for dinner and then early to bed for all of us. Abby was tuckered out after a fun filled weekend, so were Mommy and Daddy. The rain that night made it very easy to go to sleep and relax and made for the perfect end to a very nice Easter weekend.
