A Special Baseball Game

Today was a very special baseball game. Uncle James, who plays for Cal State LA, was playing in his final home game of the regular season. Before the game everyone said their official goodbyes to the graduating seniors and their parents and families were honored as well. It was a bittersweet moment. SO glad to see James being honored but also sad to see his time playing college baseball coming to an end.
It was the perfect day for a game, warm but beautiful down in LA. Something must have been in the air though because this time we weren’t a jinx. The team played their final home game and went out with a bang, beating the away team. Afterwards the team invited the families and friends of the players to enjoy pizza and desert on the field. There were lots of hugs, pictures and laughs. The girls even had the chance to play a bit on the field. Both Abby and Ellie seemed pretty excited to play on the pitchers mound. Future softball players, maybe?
What a great way to end the season! Thank you Uncle James for letting us be a part of it!
Two cuties ready for a great game!
Abby is at the mound and ready to pitch her first game.
Abby and Ellie with their favorite Uncle! We love you Uncle James!
Let’s play some ball!

Paper Bag Princess

This evening the girls stayed with Grandma Zoe and they decided to make pretty dresses out of packing paper. This was Ellie’s creation. She reminds me of my favorite book from childhood, The Paper Bag Princess. She is quite the cutie though!

Easter Sunday

The Easter Bunny came! After a good night of sleep the girls awoke to Easter baskets filled with goodies from the Easter Bunny. Such excitement!
I will pause for a moment and explain their sleep wear. Yes, I realize they are wearing Santa PJ’s and its almost April but my kids are pretty smart. When we talked the night before about the Easter Bunny they took notice that he came while they were sleeping and left his presents. Just like Santa. So when it was time to get dressed for bed, they wanted to wear their Santa pj’s just like at Christmas time. Pretty impressive dot connecting if you ask me.
Anyway, the girls discovered their baskets and immediately ripped into them. Abby received Wreck it Ralph and Ellie, HOP. Of course there was candy too! You cant have Easter without a few Peeps and mini Cadbury Eggs! The Easter Bunny did well again this year!

The rest of our Easter Sunday ended up being a bit of a bummer. While the girls played outside with Shaun, I napped. I had been feeling sick for a few days and thought I might have a sinus infection. When I woke up from my nap my eyes were clouded and my sinuses in horrible shape. I had a feeling my sinus infection was bad and had now caused some conjunctivitis  So, we decided I couldn’t wait until Monday and headed to the ER, while the girls stayed with Grandpa and Nana.
The ER trip was quick, thankfully and sure enough I was right! Acute sinusitis and conjunctivitis! So with a prescription for antibiotics, steroids and eye drops we headed home to rest. Not the day that I had hoped for, but I know that there are a lot of people out there with bigger problems then that. I am just blessed to have the family that I do and I have that time with them that I do. Very blessed, sinus infection and all.
Happy Easter everyone!

Easter Eggs!

Tomorrow is Easter, so what does that mean? Easter Eggs! We sat down at the kids table in the kitchen and dyed our own Easter Eggs. We didn’t do a lot this year but that doesn’t matter, Abby and Ellie enjoyed it anyway. Ellie really embraced it and was an egg dying machine. At one point she had three eggs going at a time before we had to cut her off and get her to finish the ones that she had already started. Abby on the other hand was very meticulous and took her time with each egg.
Once we were done, the eggs were set to dry and the girls headed to bed. Gotta go to sleep so that the Easter Bunny will stop at our house! Sweet Dreams and Happy Easter Eve!

Beach Time with Harrison!

After dance today we embraced the big increase in temperatures and headed to the beach. We stopped and grabbed lunch for a picnic and then took off for our favorite spot. While going to the beach is always a special treat, today was filled with an even bigger surprise, The Guerrero Family would be joining us!
Harrison’s new little brother will be arriving at the end of May, so we thought it would be nice to get together before his arrival and before Erika was too pregnant to enjoy the beach. The kids had a great time together and so did the adults. We all had the chance to talk and catch up with daily life. Abby, Ellie and Harrison had the chance to play in the sand, catch sand crabs, and have Byron haul buckets of water back to our spot over and over!
We all had great laughs and a wonderful time. I cannot wait for the newest Guerrero to arrive! May 30th is just around the corner!

Bixby and Felicity Turn Two!

In February, our dear friends Bixby and Felicity turned two! Now its time to celebrate! Today we headed over to Wolfson home and enjoyed a lovely afternoon with the twins and their family and friends. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon, perfect for a birthday party. Abby and Ellie had the chance to swing, run, bounce and play ball while Shaun and I talked with friends and relaxed.
Bixby and Felicity have grown so much and looked adorable on their special day. They loved all of the yummy food their mommy made for the party and dove right in to their special birthday cupcakes. It was wonderful to spend an afternoon with them and watch the girls have such a great time.
Happy Birthday Bixby and Felicity! Its hard to believe that two years have passed by already!

Visiting the Farm

Its Springtime and our favorite farm is open again! We jumped at the chance to get out and explore, so we took the afternoon and headed out for some fun. Out first stop at the farm was the big cow bounce house. Let me tell you, there is nothing creepier then watching your children bounce around in what appears to be a cows stomach. But, they had fun and that’s all that matters, right?
After the creepy bounce session, we headed over to feed the chickens and then it was off for a pony ride! The girls love to ride the ponies and even though its only a few minutes it puts big smiles on their cute little faces. Ellie sits in her pony with such pride. You can tell she feels like such a big girl.
After pony rides we headed out to play on the tractor slide and then to feed the animals. Shaun and Ellie even spent some time in the petting zoo brushing the goats and snuggling with the bunnies. Abby wanted nothing to do with it but still enjoyed watching. It was such a wonderful day spent out on the farm. Nothing like fresh air and cute animals to make a day great.
Time to feed the chickens and make Daddy uncomfortable!
Abby is so very happy to ride her pony.
So happy and proud!
Two happy sisters doing what they love!
This guy was a beauty and very hungry too!
Feeding all of the animals around the farm.
Ellie really likes to watch the carrots bounce down the tube to the animals.
Brushing the goats with Daddy.
Petting the fluffy white bunny.

Museum of Natural History

Despite living in Southern California most of my life, I have only been to the Museum of Natural History on several occasions. The last trip was back in fifth grade. So you can say that its been a while since my last visit. After several trips to the Museum of the Rockies, Abby and Ellie’s love for dinosaurs became very apparent. Since we cant drive to Bozeman just to see the dinosaurs I thought a trip to the Museum of Natural History would be a lot of fun. And we did just that!
The girls enjoyed every minute of their time. Not only did the dinosaurs of all sizes bring a smile to their face, they also enjoyed a lot of the other things the museum had to offer. The Hall of Mammals was a big hit. While its certainly not the zoo, the girls loved seeing all of the different mammals from North America and Africa. Explaining why they looked so real but didn’t move was the hard part. We also looked at the bird display and then headed to the kids exploration area. The biggest hit were the microscopes that allowed children to look at specimens like hair, the wing of a fly and more. Ellie sat there for a good twenty minutes looking at them over and over again. I think we have a scientist in our midst.
The kids exploration was our last stop. We had so much fun that we closed the museum down! That is a good way to end your day, if you ask me.
Our first meeting with the dinosaurs.
Abby and Daddy are ready for a day with the dinosaurs and more.
Look, we got to see a moose!
Look Auntie Jillian, its a hippo!
Look how small we are and how big the dinosaur is!
My name is Stegosaurus, I’m a funny looking dinosaur!
Abby was so excited, we found her Saber Tooth Cat!
“I’m standing next to a polar bear!”
“So cool! Mommy can the bear still eat me?”
I see you!
Cutie Patootie!
