Visiting Family in Anaconda

On Sunday Great Grandma Laura, Auntie Diane and Uncle Barry and David came over to Bozeman to have dinner with the family. It was a quick visit but so nice to see everyone. I have not seen my cousin David since our wedding, so it was absolutely wonderful to visit with him. I am hoping that sometime in the near furture we can get all of the family together in one spot!
After a lovely dinner with the family yesterday, we headed out to Anaconda today to visit with Grandma, Diane, Barry and David. Heading out that direction gave us more of a chance to sit and just relax with everyone. Abby and Ellie had the chance to play, chase Sasha the cat around and put on a show for everyone. Great Grandma Laura laughed and smiled the entire time. I know seeing the girls brightens her day, no matter what!

Cousins! Although its not complete without Michael. Hope we can all get together soon!

Ellie was putting on a fashion show. She has got the look down!

Fashion show duck face!

Great Grandma Laura, Auntie Jillian, Me, Abby and Ellie. Some very lovely ladies!

The motley crew from Anaconda (and Arizona). Gonna miss these people a lot. Until next time!

As a treat we took Grandma to the Haufbrau, one of her favorite places to eat. The food was delicious and the time spent talking with one another was even better. Anaconda is a very small town and because of that, you get to know a lot of the people who live there. Its nice to head to a restaurant where Diane, Barry and Grandma know so many of the people who work there. Such a sense of family and community!

After dinner it was back to their house to gather our things and say goodbye. I hated to leave, as I felt I needed more time to visit, but we needed to get back to Seattle. I know we will get to see everyone again soon but leaving is always tough. Yet, the show must go on and life isn’t one big vacation!

On the way home we had one last sighting that made us all giddy and happy. Standing out in the middle of  a large pasture was a big bull moose. My parents had seen this moose just a week before standing in the river not far from where this pasture was. Its not common for moose to be down in the valleys and lowlands, especially this time of year, but this moose had been frequenting the area quite a bit. He was a very big guy, even bigger then the one we had seen in Yellowstone several days ago, so I am sure he felt safe enough to stay out in the open. It was near dusk and there wasn’t a safe place to stop the car so that I could grab a picture but it was still a spectacular sight. A nice little parting gift before heading home tomorrow!

Last Day In Montana

Our last day in Montana has been bittersweet. While I cannot wait to get home and see Shaun and Jack, it is so hard to leave my parents and of course Big Sky Country. Its ok though, I have learned that it makes me appreciate the time, no matter how short it may be, that I have here and I make sure to take it all in.

The day was pretty easy going. Abby’s Great Grandma Prueter, Great Aunt Diane and Great Uncle Barry came over from Anaconda to visit and go to dinner. Abby enjoyed the visit, especially when Great Grandma Prueter let her ride around on her walker!

For dinner we headed out to Three Forks to the Sacajawea Inn. The inn has a special place in our hearts as my Great Great Grandfather and Grandmother Kleber were the original proprietors of the inn. The Sacajawea has been closed for over a year due to a buy out by another owner and a complete refurbishment. We decided to head there for dinner only a week after its reopening. When we arrived, we thought it only appropriate to take a picture on the front porch. What made this even more special was the fact that there were 4 generations of Prueter women sitting on that porch. So glad to have been there and share in the history. I plan to make sure that Abby and her brother or sister know about this place as they get older too.

The remodel of the Sacajawea was amazing but subtle and the food in the new restaurant was incredible. I wont even bother describing it here because it wont do it justice. That and I dont want to torture anyone! Just Kidding. The new owners did an amazing job restoring it back to its original historical appearance. All of it was a subtle change as I said before but enough for me to notice.

After we left Three Forks, we took a longer drive home. A storm appeared to be blowing in and it was a perfect Montana evening. I couldn’t have asked for more to close out my final night in Bozeman. I love the scenery here and the way it makes me feel.

Granted there are plenty of places that I have yet to travel to, but nothing makes me feel the way I do when I travel to this part of the country. At times I think I am a mountain girl at heart. Until next time Montana!
